MOOR TREES TRUSTEES

Tom Kennard
Chair and Trustee
Tom is Moor Trees' Chair of Trustees and has a career spanning environmental science, conservation, finance and innovation, with board-level leadership and governance experience across the charity and business sectors. Living on the edge of Dartmoor, Tom believes thriving native woodland is an integral part of a healthy landscape. He brings strategic expertise to Moor Trees and is keen to build on the charity's strong foundations as it works towards its 2050 vision.

Katherine Moore
Honorary Secretary and Trustee
Working in sustainability, Katherine brings with her expert knowledge on subjects such as measuring carbon and reporting biodiversity. She also brings an important, younger, perspective to the board and feels her work with Moor Trees helps her play a part in restoring the health of our planet.

Jenny Isaac
Trustee
Proud to discover her ancestry on Dartmoor, Jenny is committed to nature recovery as a Trustee and previously as Chair of Moor Trees. Her background is in ecology, marine biology and pollution and subsequent experience in leadership and strategy development. As chair of the Board of Trustees she is focused on realising Moor Trees’ vision for 2050.

Alex Thiemann
Trustee
As a specialised equine veterinary surgeon living in Devon, Alex also has more than a passing interest in trees. She was a key founding member of Woodbury Community Orchard, volunteers as a working group leader for the Woodland Trust and has started working to improve her family’s small woodland. Her favourite book is “The man who planted trees” by Jean Giono.

David Gibson
Trustee
David trained in Marine Science before enjoying a 30-year career in conservation, gained through working in the Zoos and Aquarium sector. This, coupled with an assorted range of non-exec and trustee roles, has given him a variety of skills that he hopes will be of benefit to Moor Trees going forward. David is passionate about reversing biodiversity decline and finding ways that will ensure nature and humans can thrive in harmony together.

James Currie
Trustee
James has a strong personal commitment to nature recovery and skills to help Moor Trees grow its impact across Dartmoor. He is keen to use his professional experience in strategy, finance, partnerships and business development to support Moor Trees and its mission and is particularly interested in the charity's combination of practical nature recovery and community engagement. James has spent several years restoring a smallholding on the edge of Dartmoor, creating woodland, establishing a traditional orchard and a wildflower meadow.

Jake Willis
Trustee
As a Forester and Geographer, currently specialising in international forest and marine conservation programmes in the Tropics, the Himalayas and Central Asia, Jake brings a global perspective to Moor Trees’ work. Having worked for the Forestry Commission, Community Woodlands Association and managed his own woodland in Scotland, he is keen to support a landscape focused charity on his doorstep on Dartmoor.

John Green
Trustee
Helping Moor Trees to realise its inspirational vision, John brings a wealth of experience from his early career as climate campaign manager for Friends of the Earth to later becoming Chief Operating Officer and Director of three environmental sector companies.

Kelly Rich
Trustee
Kelly grew up around Dartmoor, which has given her a deep connection to this special place. As the Communications Lead for the Dartmoor Preservation Association, Kelly has dedicated three years to campaigning for its protection, and she is passionate about combining practical restoration with science-backed policy. Through her role Kelly has been lucky enough to become familiar with several trailblazing organisations doing fantastic things to safeguard and restore Dartmoor’s ecosystems. Kelly is excited to support Moor Trees’ work in restoring native woodlands to boost biodiversity and engage local communities.

Ross Kennerley
Trustee
Ross has spent a varied career working in the public, private and charity sectors, with a focus on nature and particularly trees, and is excited to join Moor Trees as a Trustee to help drive forward their vision for landscape-scale woodland and habitat recovery on Dartmoor.
Ross was the Woodland Trust’s Regional Director for South West England for seven years, following on from his role as Lead for Place and Strategy at South Hams and West Devon Councils, working closely on the Joint Local Plan for the South Devon area.
